Our very own Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Case Manager, Janet Parker, has received a Professional Development Scholarship from the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center to attend the Deaf Anti-Violence Commission’s 2018 Conference “We Will Rise” to be held in Burlington, Vermont on November 4th through 7th this year.
The Deaf Anti-Violence Commission’s (DAVC) mission is to build violence-free Deaf Communities by promoting awareness, policies, advocacy, safety, justice and healing.
From the DAVC, “this year’s [conference] theme is ‘Together, we will rise: BE THE CHANGE.’ We are building this conference around the idea that the Anti-Violence and transformative work we do is changing lives daily and allows enhancing our work performance and to show OUR creative work. This conference will be a combination of presentations, panel discussions and interactive dialogues. We are providing a powerful opportunity of networking and continuing our incredible work that we do across the country, thus together WE WILL RISE. “
Congratulations to Janet! We look forward to hearing what she is able to bring back to DEC from the conference!
